FASHION STAYS IN VELVET

“I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable”, once said George Costanza in a Sainfeld episode. It seems it?s possible now, looking at the Fall/Winter fashion shows of most designers, who have chosen this noble fabric for their collections

Go for a total look or wear it with jewels, denim, fur or leather: velvet is definitely no longer underground!

In the ancient ages, velvet has always been considered a fine textile, symbol of richness and nobility. It started spreading from Baghdad in the 12th century, while it was during the Renaissance in Italy (Lucca, Genoa, Florence and Venice) that the first designers and manufactures gave dignity to the most precious fabric ever known ?till then, enriching it with silk and gold and silver threads.

Celebrated in the beautiful song ?Blue velvet? by Bobby Vinton, beloved by painter Tiziano, Napoleon and Oscar Wilde ? just to name a few – velvet came back into fashion in 1996, when Gwyneth Paltrow wore a Guccired velvet tuxedo on the occasion of the MTV Music Awards, designed by Tom Ford.

Elegant and mysterious, soft and warm, velvet makes a big comeback this year on the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Emilio Pucci, Jill Stuart, Ralph Lauren. From evening gowns to dandy suits, from trendy booties to embellished bombers, there?s definitely something to suit everybody?s fancy!

Black velvet is probably the most classy and fashionable to rock this winter, but jewel tones like sapphire blue, dark amethyst and ruby red are really happening – and add even more preciousness to your outfit.

If you?re looking for an easier and more casual style, opt for a velvet blazer worn over jeans, or cool, relaxed pants to pair with your favourite white shirt.

And if you don?t feel exactly like wearing velvet, make your accessories speak for you: purses (Chanel, Pucci, Aerine), shoes (Giannico, Ash, Gianvito Rossi) or even gloves at night, to recall the old divas? absolutely glamorous charme.

I personally like this fabric pairing with metals (both gold or silver) or mixed with denim or satin, so definitely go and try a velvet jacket with satin revers!

No matter what pieces you?ll choose or how you will mix them: this season, your look must be really treated with velvet gloves!

Sembra che adesso sia possibile, dando uno sguardo alle sfilate Autunno/Inverno 2016 dei pi? grandi stilisti, che hanno scelto questo nobile tessuto per le loro collezioni.

Da indossare head to toe o da abbinare a gioielli, denim, pelle o (eco)pelliccia: il velluto decisamente non ? pi? underground!

In antichit?, il velluto ? sempre stato considerato un materiale pregiato, simbolo di ricchezza e nobilt?. La sua diffusione part? da Baghdad nel 12esimo secolo, ma ? solo durante il Rinascimento italiano (ed in particolare a Lucca, Genova, Venezia e Firenze) che i primi modellisti e manifatturieri resero onore al tessuto pi? prezioso fino ad allora conosciuto, arricchendolo con sete e ricami d?oro e d?argento.

Dagli abiti lunghi ai blazer, dagli stivaletti che ormai hanno conquistato i piedi di tutte le fashion addict ai bomber ricamati, ce n?? davvero per tutti i gusti! Il velluto nero sicuramente ? il pi? facile ed elegante da portare, ma anche i toni gioielli del rosso rubino, blu zaffiro, ametista scuro e smeraldo sono di grande impatto e impreziosiscono ancora di pi? il vostro outfit. Se invece cercate uno stile pi? rilassato, provate una giacca di taglio maschile sui vostri jeans preferiti, o morbidi pantaloni in velluto da abbinare ad una semplice T-shirt bianca.

Non vi sentite ancora del tutto pronte ad indossare questo trend? Lasciate allora che siano i vostri accessori a parlare per voi: borse (Chanel, Pucci, Aerine). Scarpe (Giannico, Ash, Gianvito Rossi) o persino un paio di guanti, da indossare la sera come le vecchie dive di Hollywood.

Io personalmente adoro questo tessuto abbinato ai metalli (sia oro che argento) o mixato col denim ed il satin (da provare, il blazer in velluto con i revers in satin)! Non importa quali pezzi scegliate o come deciderete di abbinarli: per questa stagione, il vostro look andr? decisamente trattato con i guanti di velluto!
