THE BALM MARY-LOU MANIZER

Mary-Lou Manizer ? uno di quei prodotti che ? rimasto nella mia wishlist per secoli. Ogni volta che andavo in profumeria lo guardavo con occhi avidi, ma poi il prezzo mi frenava sempre perch? spendere circa 16 euro solo per un highlighter mi sembrava un po? eccessivo. Alla fine, per?, mi sono accorto che l?illuminante ? il prodotto che utilizzo di pi? in assoluto (dopo il mascara) e quindi ho deciso di acquistarlo, anche perch? quello che usavo prima ? il Face Contour Kit di Sleek – mi era finito.

Inizio col dire che i packaging di The Balm sono tra i miei preferiti in assoluto: divertenti, colorati, hanno tutti delle stampe vintage di pin-up, vecchie riviste di moda e bellocci alla James Dean; i toni femminili e i nomi ammiccanti per me lo rendono un brand davvero invitante, e i prodotti all?interno non sono da meno!

Mary-Lou Manizer?si presenta come un illuminante in polvere color beige dorato, dal finish setoso e ultra brillante. La confezione ? carinissima, una foto segnaletica di questa Mary-Lou accusata di essere ?troppo carina, troppo popolare? con tanto di carta d?identit? del brand e impronte digitali sul retro.

Sono solo io, o Mary-Lou mi ricorda in maniera impressionante Taylor Swift?

L?highlighter ? contenuto in una graziosa scatoletta in metallo, molto compatta e resistente e con un comodo specchio all?interno.?
Il prezzo ? di 16.90???(da La Gardenia e Limoni) e contiene 8.5 grammi di prodotto, il che non ? male considerando che gli Extra Dimension di MAC costano quasi il doppio.

La consistenza, come ho detto, ? molto morbida ed estremamente sfumabile, e la pigmentazione pazzesca lo rende estremamente opaco – tanto che bisogna andarci cauti ed utilizzarne veramente pochissimo per avere subito un effetto apprezzabile. Consiglio di utilizzarlo con un pennello a setole morbide e non troppo fitte, per evitare l?effetto ?macchia?, ma lo trovo adatto anche ad essere sfumato con le dita per un approccio pi? discreto, perch? la sua texture ? davvero molto cremosa e impalpabile. L?ideale, comunque, sarebbe quello di applicarlo con un pennello a ventaglio se avete un po? pi? di dimestichezza, perch? ? davvero coprente e se ne applicate troppo rischiate l?effetto lampadario di Versailles. Insomma, ? un illuminante che sa come farsi notare, ma una volta che avrete imparato a calibrarlo bene ve ne innamorerete: regala alla pelle un effetto quasi plastico, davvero stupendo. In foto poi d? il meglio di s?, perch? cattura benissimo la luce e prende vita in tutto il suo splendore!

L?illuminante ? uno step fondamentale nella mia makeup routine, perch? non ho zigomi particolarmente evidenti e quindi cerco di accentuare questa zona creando dei volumi proprio con questi prodotti. Inoltre, avendo gli occhi infossati, a volte utilizzo l?illuminante al posto dell?ombretto per dare luce alla zona palpebrale, e non esco mai di casa senza illuminare l?angolo interno dell?occhio (che mi piace MOLTO accentuato, alla Blake Lively per intenderci). Mary-Lou Manizer si presta benissimo a tutte queste cose, e per questo lo considero un investimento. Nonostante il suo colorito che tende verso il giallo, lo trovo adatto a qualsiasi tipo di carnagione perch? una volta applicato vira quasi verso il bianco, e ha una durata molto buona (su di me ha resistito 8 ore sotto il sole cocente di Agosto)!

Insomma, davvero un ottimo prodotto se come me amate gli illuminanti, e mi sento di raccomandarvelo in pieno!

Mary-Lou Manizer is one of those products that has been in my wishlist for ages: every time I would go shopping I looked at her with greedy eyes, but then the price always held me back a little bit, because spending 16???just for a highlighter seemed a little too much. Eventually, though, I realized that highlighters are the thing I use the most second to mascara, so I decided to give up to the cuteness and buy it.?

Let’s start saying that The Balm‘s packagings are among my absolute favorites: fun, colorful, they all have vintage prints of pin-ups, old fashion magazines and good looking boys ? la James Dean; the feminine shades and the cheeky names make it a truly inviting brand for me, and the products inside are as tempting as they pack.?

Mary-Lou Manizer is a silky golden beige illuminating powder. It contained in a pretty and compact metal box with a good mirror inside. It retails for?16.90???(24.00 $) and?contains 0.3 oz of product – which is not bad considering that the MAC Extra Dimension?cost almost twice as much.
The consistency, as I said, is very soft and extremely blendable, and the insane pigmentation makes it extremely opaque – so much that you have to go cautious and use a very tiny amount to give the desired effect. I’d recommend using it with a soft an not-too-dense bristled brush to avoid the “stained” effect, but I find it’s also good to be blended with your fingers for a more discreet approach, since the texture is so smooth and creamy. The ideal, however, would be to apply it with a fan brush if you’re familiar with, because the risk with this product is to easily overdo it. In short, it is a highlighter that knows how to get noticed, but once you learn how to use this properly you’ll love it: it gives the skin a gorgeous, almost plastic look. In pictures it gives the best of itself, because it catches the light so well and comes to life in all its glory!?

Highlighter is a fundamental step in my makeup routine, because I don’t have prominent cheekbones and so I like to accentuate this area and create volumes with this type of product. Also, having hooded eyes, sometimes I use them in place of eyeshadow to light up the eyelid area, and I never leave my house without highlighting the inner corners of the eye (which I like VERY highlighted, ? la Blake Lively). Mary-Lou Manizer does all of these things very well, and this is why I consider it an investment. Despite its color tends towards yellow, I find it suitable for any type of skin, and lasts very good (at least eight hours on me, under the scorching sun of August)!?

I find this to be a really great product, and I totally reccomend it to you if you love highlighters!?
